Thank you so much for your lovely account.

I spent most of my time reading this wiping tears away just thinking how proud you must be of your Mum and also how lucky you both were to share this experience. I lost my partner Sabine to brain tumour after a long fight on Jan 2010 and would have loved to have had a similar story to look back upon.

As a sort of tribute I will be attempting (dare I say completing?) the C2C in Aug 2012 with my partner Alison & her daughter Sophie, hence my internet trawling on the subject.

It is truly amazing what you can come across just by accident!

Wish us luck!!

Gavin, Alison & Sophie.

Well done girls, just read your journals. I am 65, only started distance walking 5 years ago. Just did half the Dales Way early Sept 2010. Did half the Cleveland Way last Sept. Need to push on now. Your Mother must be amazing to do the CC. It gives me confidence in my own ability to know that elder statespersons can still show the young ones we can do anything if we put our mind to it. Good luck in the future, and tks for the Journal

I read your journal with a feeling of gratitude, as I'm 57 at the moment, and have enjoyed walking all my life, I was wondering how long I would have the continuing enjoyment. It seems I have many years of fresh air to look forward to.
As for the flag stones on parts of the Pennine Way, while they can be hard on the feet, they are much better than the thigh deep quagmires of my youth!

Dear Deb & Mum, How lovely to read of your journal of the Pennine Way. What a marvellous woman your Mum is. You were doing the Pennine Way when we did the second half of the Coast to Coast in May 2008 so I know you had brilliant weather. We are now deciding what walk to do next and had dismissed the Pennine Way due to not many companies doing the baggage transfer and stories of bogs, but if Mum can do it at 77 so can we!
