A beautifully done journal & congratulations on a job well done. Two of us, both 69 are doing this walk over 16 days in August. Please let us know if**PS is necessary or will maps & a compa**uffice? Which books do you recommend?
We have so far booked all our accomodation & luggage transfer but not any trains. Is it necessary to book trains in advance, such as from Manchester to St Bees & then one of us is coming back to the USA & I'm going to a wedding one hour from Edinburgh. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks soooo much, Albert Goldreich

What a wonderful journal! I have been researching and planning the C2C walk to celebrate my husband & my 20th anniversary for a bit more than 2 years now. This log, with it's beautiful photos and delightful entries, has doubled my anticipation of the journey. We will be setting out mid June and finishing on July 6.

Thank you for posting your journey - it has truly inspired me.

Deb and Gwen: Thanks for the wonderful diary of your walk. We (myself, my husband Paul and our daughters, Annie (14) and Maggie (12) will be walking the Coast to Coast this July (10-25th).

I really appreciate your comments, and photographs, and hope we find warm weather as you did.

Great job!

Thanks,

I really enjoyed your desription of the walk. I've been meaning to put something like this together for my own C2C experience from last September/October, but I haven't gotten to it. Reading your journal makes me wish I was doing it all over again. It was one of the best things I've ever done. Congratulations to you both and keep on walking!

Hi,
One of the best sites I have seen for a while.
Your Ma did a great job and a real inspiration for Seniors like myself. I did the CtoC about five years ago and found it pretty rough going in places I was carrying, However, I was doing OK till I met a couple in a pub in Richmond, I explained to them how good I felt about the walk, she told me her husband had done it a couple of years previous, but he had run it John Hill

After looking through your website it is apparent that the coast to coast walk can be a very enjoyable experience. A workmate and myself completed the journey for charity and had a time constraint of 1 week to complete the journey. This turned out to be a very tough from the outset. I would suggest anyone who is planning the journey stick to the planned daily mileages rather than rushing through as we did. Even after all the blisters and muscle pains have gone i'm sure however it will be an experience i will never forget. Good uck to anyone having a go!!!

Many thanks for your clear and wonderfully chosen photos, the clarity and choice of subject is superb.
Your personal observations and obvious affection for each other are great to see and to read about.

I walked the C2C from June 17-29th 06 arriving from India on June 15th for a relaxed first day in St Bees, it was my intention to walk by myself but with such great company along the way much of the walk was in the company of others.

What a walk, what company and what magnificent scenery.
Now another "what" what to do next!

Sincerely

Jeff Davis

Deborah & Gwen,

Super web journal! It sure took us back to our September 2004 crossing (19 days including two rest days in Kirkby Stephens and Richmond. We envy your views from atop Loft Beck because when we crested it, we became lost in the mist for an hour before we were found by three other lost walkers. Great pictures and thanks again for sharing.
